Custom Luminaire

Design board (11x17 fine) Ideation sketch (hand or electronic or whatever) Photo of mock up Photo of final constructed luminaire Titles, etc. Labeled “ideal” construction diagram (show pieces, materials, wiring, switch, light source) Plan and elevation / section Show ideal construction, if cost, time, and skill were not limiting factors Built luminaire Provide some way to hang if it is not free-standing Provide a plug and a switch Process: Start with a project of your choice – a past studio, current work, or something you’ve always wanted to do. Come up with an idea for a luminaire – consider its intended task, light source, CRI, Color Temperature, glare control, and overall aesthetic. Develop design through sketches, either by hand or computer. Generate a mock-up using whatever materials are at hand, to evaluate its performance and appearance. Construct the final object using final selections for lamp, base, and all constructed materials. The luminaire is expected to function.
