Eco-Tourism Resort & Restaurant

Restaurant rendering featured in Endicott College Spring 2021 Student Invitational PROGRAMS USED: Sketchup and Enscape For this project, I designed an Urban Eco-Tourism Resort for Winter Island in Salem, MA. This project is broken into four phases, where I had to design two tiny home guest pods, the main pavilion, and a restaurant. Additionally, I incorporated sustainability, ADA guidelines, and a design that adheres to a post-COVID world. I had to create a resort brand including a name and a logo. I named the resort “ The Osprey,“ after the hawk that lives around bodies of water and eats fish. There is a visible osprey nest southeast of Winter Island that has been active since 2013 with 1-3 fledglings born there every year. I also worked with a Graphic Design student, Madison Kullen, for the restaurant. She created the brand “ Twisted Vines,“ which is a contemporary casual style restaurant with farm-to-table, Italian-inspired cuisine. The name Twisted Vines alludes to the freshness of the food being served and the types of produce often found in Italian cuisine such as tomatoes. Her restaurant branding was featured in the Endicott College Spring 2021 Student Invitational which included my renderings.

Concept: The Osprey is dedicated to being family-friendly, safe, peaceful, and sustainable. The perfect combination of all these properties is a bird’s nest, also allowing the reference to the name of the resort and the osprey nest you can see from the resort. The concept is incorporated into the resort’s design by choosing natural materials such as wicker and rattan, utilizing neutral colors, and creating spaces that provide a very homely feeling that also aims toward families.
